Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information The Dirty Steep collects when you visit our website or join our waitlist, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain on purpose.
Who we are. The Dirty Steep is an independent brand operated by its founder (Matt). We are not yet incorporated as a company. For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@dirtysteep.com.
The short version
- We collect your email address only if you choose to join the waitlist.
- We use standard website analytics and an advertising pixel to understand traffic and measure our ads.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We are pre-launch: no payments are taken and no payment information is collected on this site yet.
Information we collect
Information you give us
When you join the waitlist or reserve a kit, we collect the email address you enter. That is the only personal detail we ask for at this stage. We do not create accounts, set passwords, or collect payment details. No payment is collected and reservations are not purchases.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, ours collects limited technical information automatically when you visit, including:
- your IP address and approximate location;
- device and browser type;
- pages viewed and actions taken on the site (for example, clicking a button);
- referral and ad-attribution data (which ad or link brought you here).
How and why we use it
- To run the waitlist — to email you the ship date and, when the product is ready, a link to complete your order.
- To measure and improve our ads — to understand which ads and pages lead people to sign up, so we do not waste money showing ads that do not work.
- To understand site traffic — aggregate analytics about how the site is used.
- To respond to you — if you email us with a question or request.
Third-party services we use
We rely on a small number of reputable providers to run this site. Each processes limited data on our behalf:
- Formspree — receives and stores the email address you submit through our waitlist form. See Formspree's own privacy policy for how they handle it.
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel — a piece of code from Meta that helps us measure ad performance and attribute sign-ups to the ads that drove them. It may set cookies and share event data with Meta.
- Vercel — hosts the website and provides basic, privacy-friendly traffic analytics.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising measurement. In particular, the Meta Pixel is used for ad attribution — it helps us see whether the ads we run lead to waitlist sign-ups. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of interest-based advertising through Meta's ad preferences and industry tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out page.
Data retention
We keep your email address until our first batch launches and your order is fulfilled, or until you ask us to remove you — whichever comes first. If you unsubscribe or request deletion, we remove your email promptly. Analytics data is retained in aggregate for a limited period to help us understand trends.
Your rights and choices
You can, at any time:
- Access the information we hold about you;
- Correct or update your email;
- Delete your information / unsubscribe from the waitlist;
- Opt out of analytics and ad tracking (see Cookies and tracking above).
To exercise any of these, email hello@dirtysteep.com and we will take care of it. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
"Do not sell or share" (CCPA)
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising in exchange for money. If you are a California resident, you still have the rights described above; email us to exercise them.
Children
Our website and products are not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our business grows — for example, once we begin taking payments. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated by email where appropriate.
